T H.K Jain College.
A journey which began in the year 2006 T.H.K Jain College has over the years has become one of the most sought after colleges in Kolkata with over 3500 students. At present there are 12 Honours and 13 General courses. The array of courses started its journey with Microbiology (Hons) and Computer Science(Hons) along with four General subjects i.e Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Mathematics in 2006 and The department of Commerce was introduced offering Honours as well as General courses. 2010 marked the addition of B.A/B.Sc Honours Courses in English and Geography as well as General Courses in Bengali, Hindi, History, Political Science and Economics. Journalism and Mass Communication Honours Course was started along with a General Course in Film Studies in 2014 keeping the interest of the pupils in our mind. Hindi Honours was introduced in 2015 and Zoology Honours was started in 2016. Honours Courses in Food & Nutrition and Botany were added to the prospectus of the college in 2017 diversifying the option in Science. Carrying the plan of expansion forward BBA (Hons) course and B.A/B.Sc (Hons.) in Library and Information Science were introduced in the year 2018.
A Hall mark of Academic Excellence: the college has stepped upwards through the staircase of excellence for the time span of decade and obtained B+ grade in 1st Cycle by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), a quality assurance organization of University Grants Commission. With our students achieving top ranks at the Calcutta University, the college is constantly trying to upscale to bring only the best to our students.
In the year 2015 the College turned over a new leaf when the newly constructed G+4 building was inaugurated by His Excellency Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, then Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal. In addition to the innumerable classrooms, well equipped laboratories, well stocked library and spacious Multipurpose Hall, Audio- Visual Rooms, playground, Basketball Court and common rooms the building also boasts of having the best ecofriendly campus that soothes the senses.
Other than academics, our students also have brought glory to the institution by winning several prizes at various inter-college programs every year and also take active participation and manage in special events which have been happening in the college over the years. The staff and students T.H.K Jain College are actively involved in a variety of social outreach activities to contribute to the welfare and development of society. The college believes that participating in one’s community is crucial to p bringing about positive change. This is the driving force behind the initiatives taken by the institution in the form of Blood donation camps community activities conducted in association with NSS (National Service Scheme).
Various departmental activities like quizzes, debates, presentations, workshops etc help accentuate the talents of the pupils. A number of activities like Industrial Visits, excursions and tours, journal publishing, film festivals etc. help students to gain practical exposure into their respective fields.
The Faculty of the college under the guidance and supervision of the Principal aims to take the students of the college to higher levels of academic success. With the support of Shree S.S Jain Sabha, the college constantly endeavours to reach the zenith of success by providing world-class facilities to students along with high-standard education.
